The Story

Commissioned by the Jewish Museum to create a new piece of Judaica for its collection, Rachel Feinstein was inspired by medieval-style architectural Jewish marriage rings and tower-shaped ceremonial spice containers. In collaboration with Ippolita, she designed Marriage Ring, a fantastical ring in the form of a castle. Made of sterling silver dipped in 18-karat gold, it is almost a foot tall and weighs more than a pound.

On the occasion of this collaboration, Feinstein has also produced four different editions of related rings with Ippolita. One adaptation, Fan Castle Ring, is a minimalist variation on the Jewish Museum commission. Handmade in New York of sterling silver, its three components are pinned together at the bridge and fan out slightly, creating a three-dimensional image of a Judaic temple.
