The Story
Inspired by the Tōjinbō Cliffs of Fukui Prefecture in Japan, this bowl was designed by legendary chef Masayoshi Takayama, known as Masa, to serve as an ice basin for keeping an open sake bottle cold, but may also be used as a salad bowl. Each is unique in color and shape, ensuring no two pieces are alike.
Following the seven principles of shibusa—simplicity, implicitness, modesty, naturalness, imperfection, everydayness, and silence—the Masa Designs collection is crafted to improve the aesthetics of everyday life. Markings and coloring may vary due to the unique nature of the production and firing processes.
