The Story
This raised metal enamel pin featuring Profile Head (1988) by Roy Lichtenstein was produced in conjunction with Lichtenstein Remembered at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York. Presenting sculptures and related studies by Lichtenstein, the exhibition was organized to commemorate the centenary of the artist’s birth. Capturing the outline of a woman’s face draped in flowing blond tresses, Profile Head depicts the female form in Lichtenstein’s graphic, stylized aesthetic. The sculpture’s simple, silhouette-like structure references both Lichtenstein’s 1960s Pop paintings and Neoclassical styles of representation.
