Y.Z. Kami: Messenger

This woodcut print by Y.Z. Kami revisits the elemental motif of the “messenger,” which he has developed over a series of paintings composed in his distinctive soft-focus style. An anonymous figure standing at a crossroads, Kami’s messenger is turned away from the viewer, clad in a white robe, and holding a walking staff. Produced at the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies, this print distills the figure and landscape into their elemental forms delineated in color on a delicate cream paper.
